errell: There's definitely a pocket of people who, for whatever reasons, their voices are being listened to at this moment in time and have enough juice to get things made and have this sensibility that seems to be working for audiences. ... It's funny how lucky comedy is. Sometimes an idea will hit you that you find obviously funny and you think, "That could be commercially successful." Aside from those few moments, you're usually just going with something you think is funny and it's just luck that more people than you think it's funny as well.
AP: It sounds like you feel it's fleeting.
Ferrell: I do. I don't know if it's just that thing in me that always feels like, "Ah, I can't believe I still get to do this." It feels like you do for better or worse have a shelf-life.
