Review of the book After the cheering stops by Cindy Feasel

This book is about life as a football player who dealt with many concussions which led him to do unthinkable things in his marriage and life. I won't spoil the ending but it ends shockingly. The wife is the narrator of the story and tells her story of his football career and their marriage and everything that happened after they got done with football. It is supposed to be a faith story but in my opinion it really wasn't. Sure they talk about church a little bit and prayer a bit but it wasn't the main focus of the story. I don't know why I picked this book, I guess because I was interested in how football players handle concussions and the damage it does to their bodies like the movie that Will Smith did which I found  very interesting. I learned along with watching the movie, how much damage a football player gets when he has a concussion. The helmets are supposed to protect you but its not foolproof. The player in the book talked about one time he didn't remember how he finished the game. That the coach didn't do much to make sure he was okay. Just asked him how many fingers he was holding up and put smelling salts under his nose. Players need more protection, and if that means not playing the rest of the game then that is okay. At the end of the book you learn that he had stage 3 problems out of 4 for concussions. The damage was too much for him.
