Review of the book Why Men Hate Going To Church by David Murrow

**This review might offend some people. If you get offended after reading this then please do not leave a rude comment. I will simply ban you and delete your comment. Thanks**

I was really excited to get this book in the mail but then I was a bit disappointed with it. I agreed with some of the things the author talks about but I did not like other things. This book talked about things that made men not want to go to church and how we can fix it.

An interesting fact I learned in the book is that people who are actively engaged in their local church give three times as much as those who are disengaged. That is very true, and the author was spot on with that.

The author noted that churches had to become more mainstream and attract more men so they had advanced lighting sets, effects, video and sound. Young ones became accustomed to worshiping in dark rooms, under stage lighting, with a rock band in the lead. The only difference between between sacred and secular concerts was the obligatory talk about Jesus. This came to event a new kind of music called praise and worship. (Some of these sentences came from the author on page 72 and 73.) People don't realize that that's not how a church is supposed to be. At our kingdom Hall, our worship is just about Jehovah, no fancy icons, stuff like that. Its a simple hall with a stage and a table and a microphone, seats and a back room/bathroom and we get all the worship we need from Jehovah. You don't need to be a showy christian and bring attention to yourself, that is not the point of worship to GOD.

The author also makes a good point about how music today for churches and worship talks about GOD and Jesus in erotic terms such as 'Your love is extravagant, your friendship is intimate, I feel I'm moving to the myths of your grace, your fragrance is intoxicating in this secret place'. And the author is right on when he says " The bible never describes our love for GOD in such erotic terms. The men of scripture loved GOD, but they were never desperate for him or in love with him." People take advantage of their worship by trying to make money off of GOD but true worshipers to do not ask for money to sing about GOD, and true worshipers give out free literature to people and show them the real truth about GOD not what other people believe to be true or think is true based on misconception.

Another thing I agree with the author about is how inappropriate people dress in church these days. You can see cleavage or legs or even more. It can distract other worshipers from GOD and that is wrong. You cannot be stumbling other people, the message is about Jehovah GOD not about you or anyone else. And we have to be considerate of other peoples feelings and respect them and not be stumbling other people.

The last thought I agree with the author about is how the message that should be preached to people is about the Kingdom of GOD and that gets pushed aside. We need to really preach about what is truly important in the bible and not push aside that to tickle other people's ears. If people do not like the message, then they can choose not to take part in it but we will not change the truth to fit their perception of what is right.

My only complaint about the author is in the beginning he quoted a scripture but completely missed that point of the scripture and talked about it wrongly. Scriptures get misapplied all the time and that is wrong. People need to learn the truth about what the bible really teaches before they go to someone and try to teach them the truth.

Taylor Swift Reportedly Fighting False Explicit Photo On Tabloid Site

Taylor Swift is well-known not only for her infectious songwriting and all-ages fan group, but also her reputation for ladylike behavior and attire. Still, the 21-year-old superstar--like many big names before her--has found herself the subject of some rather sordid gossip over the weekend.

According to TMZ, Swift has sicced her lawyers on a tabloid site called Celeb Jihad, who has published what it claims to be a "leaked" topless photo of her.

Swift's legal team has reportedly stated that the site contains "false pornographic images and false 'news'" about the singer, and threatens a lawsuit for trademark infringement if the photo is not taken down.

The site in question has not removed the photo yet; instead choosing to put up a news item stating that Swift is furious with and "waging war" against them. TMZ noted that Swift's camp had no comment on the matter. (Our own request for comment was unreturned as well.)

If Swift is indeed furious over this incident, she's doing a fine job of hiding it. The singer appeared her usual stylish and unruffled self at a Nashville-area launch for her new perfume, Wonderstruck, on Friday; sporting a chic Ted Baker dress and black tights.

Swift's currently in the midst of her largely sold-out North American Speak Now tour (you can check dates here). On November 9, she'll be in the running for five trophies at the 2011 Country Music Association Awards.

KFC Apologizes For Not Letting John Travolta Reserve A Table

An employee at a KFC eatery in England says that when he received a call from a woman claiming to be a rep for John Travolta, asking to reserve a table for the Boy In the Plastic Bubble star, he told the woman "no," but not because he thought he was being pranked.

"To me, customers are customers, no matter who they are," the employee tells the Daily Mail. "It doesn't make a difference if someone is famous."

But a rep for KFC offered a more apologetic take on the matter: "In hindsight, of course, we would have reserved a table for him... It's not every day you get a Hollywood star eating in your restaurant."

Of course, we have no way of knowing if the call was legitimate, though the Daily Mail does say that Travolta was in the area that weekend to attend an event at Scientology HQ.

Review of the book Softly and Tenderly by Sara Evans and Rachel Hauck

**This review might offend some people. If you get offended after reading this then please do not leave a rude comment. I will simply ban you and delete your comment. Thanks**

When I first started reading this book I thought to myself that is not a spiritual book but that changed my mind once I had read more. I wish though when people claim to be a Christian that they really knew what the bible says but they twist scriptures to fit what they believe and that is wrong. The 2 major points I had did not like in this book are that the characters in the book believe in fate and believe in the afterlife such as Heaven and Hell. Both of those are incorrect and the bible actually tells the truth about such things and if only people would learn what the bible really teaches then they would be happy. GOD does not control our lives and there is no such thing as fate. Life just happens and as the one scripture says that unforeseen occurrences befall as all. Meaning things just happen and its not because its GOD's will or anything else. This can be seen in the scripture Ecclesiastes 9:11 which reads " I returned to see under the sun that the swift do not have the race, nor the mighty ones the battle, nor do the wise also have the food, nor do the understanding ones also have the riches, nor do even those having knowledge have the favor; because time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all."

The second thing that bothered me about this book was the mention of afterlife which I have talked about alot on this blog before and you can look at previous blog posts to see more lengthy things on it. But once again when you die, you die. You are in a sleepless state and that is it. In the scripture Eccl. 9:5: “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.”Which means if the dead are conscious of nothing then they cannot look down upon us from Heaven or burn in Hell. You can read more on my other posts before.

I enjoyed the book and spent 2 day reading it but I wish people who claim to be Christian would actually not talk about stuff they know nothing about.

Taylor Swift Gives 6,000 Books To Kids

Just when you think she can't get any cuter!

America's most adorable songstress, Taylor Swift, just donated 6,000 books to libraries in the city of Reading, Pennsylvania!!

We know what you're thinking, and no, this isn't some elaborate pun on the city's name. Tay's reps told library officials she wanted to help economically troubled libraries in her home state.

Swift partnered with publisher Scholastic Inc. to donate the books for children and young adults. The titles were chosen by local librarians.

Librarians say Swift's books will be marked with a white star on the spine and a sticker inside. Aw!!

Hopefully the teen idol has inspired Reading's kids to start reading!

"He can't wait to take his son to baseball games and play catch with him."

Although, after having two girls, this is going to be a bit of a change for Jen. She's having a few reservations about how to raise a boy. The friend adds:

"She feels like she won’t know what to do. She's close to her two sisters, and her instincts were spot-on with the girls. But she never had a brother and doesn't know the drill."

Review of the book Thank You God, for blessing me by Max Lucado

This book was simply adorable and cute and a great read and I know my niece and nephew will love it. They are 5 and 6. The book is about a green caterpiller who thanks GOD for all the blessings in his life. He is thankful for leaves to sleep on, yummy food to eat, eyes to see with and feet to walk on. He also thanks GOD for his friends. He also says to GOD help me be the best I can, to be kind and obey. Its how I say thank you GOD in a very special way. He then thanks GOD for the flowers, stars and trees, for friends, food and playtime.

I enjoyed this book because GOD is real and he blesses us in all kinds of ways and you can thank GOD either by a silent prayer or out loud.

GOD truly does care for us and wants whats best for us and GOD is like a friend who we can pray to at any time and will always listen whether its a small prayer just asking for help or to list some concerns we may have and we will helps us clear our minds and put us at ease. And there is never a busy signal at all. He always there for us, all we have to do is ask Jehovah for help and he is there. So close to 250. We need to always thank god for our life because we always have more then we deserve if we just see our life in a new light.
