Review of the book After the cheering stops by Cindy Feasel

This book is about life as a football player who dealt with many concussions which led him to do unthinkable things in his marriage and life. I won't spoil the ending but it ends shockingly. The wife is the narrator of the story and tells her story of his football career and their marriage and everything that happened after they got done with football. It is supposed to be a faith story but in my opinion it really wasn't. Sure they talk about church a little bit and prayer a bit but it wasn't the main focus of the story. I don't know why I picked this book, I guess because I was interested in how football players handle concussions and the damage it does to their bodies like the movie that Will Smith did which I found  very interesting. I learned along with watching the movie, how much damage a football player gets when he has a concussion. The helmets are supposed to protect you but its not foolproof. The player in the book talked about one time he didn't remember how he finished the game. That the coach didn't do much to make sure he was okay. Just asked him how many fingers he was holding up and put smelling salts under his nose. Players need more protection, and if that means not playing the rest of the game then that is okay. At the end of the book you learn that he had stage 3 problems out of 4 for concussions. The damage was too much for him.

Review of book When God Isn't There

This book was really boring and I stopped halfway through because I cannot keep on going! I did like a few things the author talked about. Its about how we feel absent from GOD because we once held him close and now we miss him. On page 29 the author says " while on this earth, we still wear the flesh of our sin and cannot stand in God's actual presence. But a day is coming when we will put on the new clothes of GOD and stand before GOD's presence."  On page 35 it says this " GOD is never full absent. GOD is always there. There is nowhere you can go , nowhere you can hide and nowhere you can fall where GOD's general presence is absent. GOD is fully present in his general omnipresent nature. " I also like the quote on page 37 " GOD is always in the cafe where you drink coffee but that doesn't mean we're at the table with him". I take this as we are doing something to not have GOD near us and he has nothing to bless. This book is boring because it doesn't really go anywhere. I was hoping to find some answers on why GOD is absent and how to bring him back to us but it doesn't do that. I feel that in my life right now that GOD is absent and I wanted a way to bring him back to my life and feel close again but the book falls way short in this.

Review of book Guilt Hollow by Lorie Langdon

This book is about a girl named Willow who is surprised to learn her old friend Ashton is out of jail for a crime he committed. But she thought he was always innocent and helps prove it in this mysterious book. As they uncover clues as to who they think committed the crime, they end up in dangerous situations because the real killer who I will not share, is wanting them to not find out the truth. This book had a lot of twists and turns that had me not sure of what was going on.  This book immediately got my attention so I ran to get this book off the website and read it. I read the whole book in one day and the book is pretty big about 300 or so pages. I would like to read more books by this author if I get the chance. I originally thought this book was about ghosts and spirits but it wasn't. I thought it was about spirits and ghosts because of where the town and house takes place but you will see what I mean when you read the book. All in all I really enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone who wants a great book to immerse themselves in and just get away from it all and live in the book for a while. The book took me to another place where I got out of my life for a while. I was really pleased.

Review of book When Death Draws Near by Carrie Stuart Parks

This book was awesome! I read it in 3 days! Its about this woman who is used as a person who sketches pictures for detectives who are trying to figure out who died or who is missing. She ends up being followed and stalked and almost killed during this book. It all has to do with snakes. The group she is trying to figure out because she believes the killer is in it is a religious group who uses snakes to prove how powerful they were but when kids over 18 or people who didn't really know what they were doing with the group died from snake bites or from drugs because "prayers" did not work. She also has a daughter she needs to take care of during this book who helps her mom find out who the killer is and helps her figure out who she is as well. She also falls in love with the local detective named Blake because he believed in her the entire time and knew she wasn't a bad person. And what helped find the killer was the clues the artist left behind such as notes and her clothes after she got injured and kidnapped and had to find her way out of  the bad place and rescue her and her daughter!

Khloé Kardashian Reveals Cancer Battle

Reality star Khloé Kardashian is speaking out about her battle with cancer for the first time.

In a new blog post titled “My Skin Cancer Scare,” the 32-year-old reveals doctors found a cancerous mole on her back 10 years ago.

“I’m writing this post with the hope that my story can get some of you in to see your doctor if you notice something wrong with your skin. I’ve gone through this process a couple of times and I am so grateful that most moles have not been cancerous. However, there was one mole I had on my back that was skin cancer.”

Khloé continued, “I had 8 inches of skin removed. It was definitely painful because it was a lot of skin, but most of the time, the removals haven’t been that bad. I haven’t had a problem in years, but wanted to share my experience with you so that if you notice something doesn’t look right, you will take action and take care of your health!”

She wrote that she hasn't had a problem in years, and also urged fans to “check yourself frequently.”

Kevin Hart has tied the knot!

Hart, 37, married longtime girlfriend Eniko Parrish, 31, in a wedding in California, surrounded by friends and family.

Great book!

I just got finished reading a book called Life is better at the beach . It is truly a great book. It reminds us to live our life more peacefully and to pay attention to what is important. When we are the beach, our hair is a mess, we are getting sand on our bodies from wearing bathing suits, and we take time to play in the sand, play in the water, make  sand castles, nap , read a book, etc. I like that we can apply this to our life. We need to not worry so much about the mess in house, or replying to every email, or not getting any sleep. That is not life at all. We all need peace and relaxation in our life. I like the quote on page 60 that says " Allow yourself to make a mess. Dig in the garden, relish the feeling of cool dirt in your hands. Let your kids make cookies-and don't rush to their aid when the flour spills all over the counter. Dance in the rain; go camping; eat a melting ice cream cone in the hot sun."I also like the quote on page 145 which says " God tells us we are small, and that is okay. In fact, we should take comfort in the fact that we are small. We don't have to have it all figured out, and we don't need to worry about tomorrow."

Review of the book Dawn at Emberwilde by Sarah Ladd

This book was about a young adult named Isabel and her sister Lizzie who end up going to live with their aunt and to try to find a suitable suitor for Isabel. Isabel ends up falling in love with someone other than who her aunts want her to be with. I thought this book was going to be promising but it ended up being really boring and took almost 2 weeks to finish it. I could barely keep reading it. This was my first time reading this book from this author so I am not sure if I will read another one by her. I liked the little sister Lizzie who learned how to ride a horse, learn to read from the bible and other great things. She is a kid who I enjoyed reading it about in the book. I think the moral of the story is to only marry someone who you love and not compromise who you are to please other people. And don't try to change you who are for other people as well. Just be yourself and the right person will like you for who you are and are not impressed with someone you are trying to be. I also learned that wealth does not make you happy if you are trying to be someone you are not. That sometimes just being yourself and normal and living your life normally and for you is the best policy. All in all it was an okay book but would probably not recommend it to anyone I know.

Review of the book Sister Dear by Laura McNeil

This book was just okay. It took me three days to read it which is slow for me. It is about a girl named Allie that got sentenced to 16 years in prison and finally gets let out and tries to live her life but she knows that she is innocent and tries to find out what really happened and who should have gone to jail instead. She also gets to know her daughter after being in jail all this time. It was really hard on her family while she was in jail so it took some getting used to having her life back to normal. This is a murder mystery book and you find out in the end that people weren't who they said they were and took some weird twists and turns. You find out about Allie's sister Emma and her role in the book. You also find out about Allie's daughter Caroline and her trying to find herself and the truth about what happened also. I honestly did not see the ending coming, it completely shocked me. This was my first time reading this author and I thought the book would be amazing but just turned out to be okay. I had trouble getting into and finishing it. I don't know if I will read another book by this author or not because I had trouble reading and getting into the book. I guess I would recommend this book to others as they may enjoy it more than me.

Review of the book The Hearts We Mend by Kathryn Springer

This book was awesome. I took my time to read it so I could really enjoy it. This book was about a girl named Evie who ends up falling in love with someone she didn't expect to. She not only falls in love with this guy but falls in love with his family as well. We learn at the beginning of the book that her son got married to a girl and they ended up having a baby and she feels lonely living on her own. She ends up getting married to the person she fell in love with, don't want to say his name so I don't spoil anything. I like Evie because she is very involved in her church and the gatherings and activities, She prays to GOD when something goes wrong and trust that he will make it all better if she just believes. Evie ends up making great friends she never thought that she would in this book and her life gets completely different in the end. I like how she went out of her comfort zone to meet all the new people she became friends with. This author is really great. I have never read a book by this author before but I really loved it and I think this book shows how if you put GOD first in your life everything seems to work out because he knows whats best for us more than we know what is best for us. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Book Review of If I Run by Terri Blackstock

I am reviewing the book If I Run by Terri Blackstock. This was a murder mystery book. It involved this girl named Casey who was on the run after her friend was found dead and they think she did it. She leaves town and sets up a different identity elsewhere. So the book is about how the cops go after her and try to find her and if she actually killed the man or not. Casey thinks the cops are dirty and so she doesn't want to cooperate with them. It had so many plot twists and turns that I did not see the book going in the direction that it was. I am so proud of Casey and how the book ended. It kept me reading so much, I could not put the book down. I fell in love with the girl Casey because you can relate to her in so many ways and how much of an awesome person she is. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good murder mystery and likes solving clues and puzzles. I like all book by this author, she writes so many murder mysteries and crime stories. Every-time I see a book by this author I run and jump to get it and to write my review on it. I think anyone would love to read this book, especially my mom who enjoys books like this. I am kind of running out of things to say on this, it's just a great book.

Review of the book Keeper of the Stars by Robin Lee Hatcher

I really enjoyed this book. It is about a woman named Penny who lives with her dad after she lost her mom and brother in two separate accidents. She ends up falling in love with this guy named Trevor and they live happily ever after. Penny is unsure of who to trust at first because she believes Trevor killed her brother. But she ends up learning the truth. And this is a really sweet story. I loved the book so much I read it all in about 3 hours and all in one day! I wanted to read this book the minute I read the description on the book site where I requested it. Sometimes you can't help who you fall in love with and that GOD works in mysterious ways and can change your life in an instant. And sometimes you think GOD is not hearing your prayers but he is and he answers it in ways you don't quite understand but it all works out in the end. I like this book because the family puts everything in the hands of GOD and uses prayers alot and trust that it all will work out in the end. She learns that its ok to grieve and move past a death and that you can't always be afraid to move on because you feel like you are supposed to not be happy after someone passes, that the quicker you move on the less you loved the person. That is further-est from the truth.

Review of the book Strong and Kind by Korie Robertson

I have to admit, this book is pretty boring and hard to get into it. It took me over a month to read it. But here is my review. I liked the quote on page on page 5 of chapter one that says " 2/3rds of those surveyed said the media is an important factor in our culture, and 68 percent said that the media's effect on the country's moral values is a negative one."I also like the quote on page 7 that says" suicide was the second leading cause of death among fifteen-to twenty-nine year-olds globally in 2012."I like the quote on page 81 that says" Joyful is not simply being happy because circumstances are pleasant of fun; it's about being deeply grateful for those circumstances and for what transpired to cause the event." This book is basically about what traits you want in your marriage and what traits you want for your children to become and how to make that happen. It was basically a parenting book using examples of what worked for Korie and Willie and how the bible helped them out and they proved that by using scriptures and then applying them. I originally got this book because I enjoy the show Duck Dynasty and enjoy watching this family on tv, it makes me laugh and helps me feel better about myself. But the book was boring because nothing really fascinated happened in the story to get your attention. I need a more faced paced book.
