Charlie Sheen 'Voluntarily' Enters Rehab; 'Two And A Half Men' Goes On Hiatus

Charlie Sheen has checked himself into rehab.

"Charlie Sheen has voluntarily entered an undisclosed rehabilitation center today," the actor's rep, Stan Rosenfield, confirmed to Access Hollywood on Friday afternoon.

The move comes just one day after the actor was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after vomiting, following a late-night bash at his home that extended into the early hours of Thursday morning.

Just as Sheen's rep announced he was entering rehab, CBS announced that "Two and a Half Men," the actor's hit comedy, was going on hiatus.

"Due to Charlie Sheen's decision to enter a rehabilitation center, CBS, Warner Bros. Television and executive producer Chuck Lorre are placing 'Two and a Half Men' on production hiatus," CBS said in a statement. "We are profoundly concerned for his health and well-being, and support his decision."

Prior to the news of the actor entering rehab, the sitcom had expected to resume production as planned next week.

In his statement on Friday, Sheen's rep added that the actor "is most grateful to all who have expressed their concern."

He also noted that the actor has asked "that his privacy be respected at this time and that no additional information will be provided."

Review of Girl Talk with God

I got a chance to review this book called Girl Talk with God by Susie Shellenberger and was pleasantly surprised by how wonderful the book was. It had so many good points in the book and only 2 points I did not like at all. I really enjoyed chapter one of the book which talked about that being a Christian is really believing in God and making a life style change. To simply quote the book it says "People consider themselves Christian, however, because they assume a Christian is someone who believes in God and tries to be a good person. The bible is a crystal clear on what being a Christian is. And it's more than simply acknowledging with our brain that there is a God." I could not agree more with this statement. When you truly believe in Jesus and God then you live your life according to the bible and live a wholesome life.

The second part I agree with is music. On page 20 of this book the author says" Whatever music you put into your mind will eventually show up in your lifestyle." As a Christian we have to be careful what music we allow ourselves to listen to because it can affect us and we want to listen to pure music that will please ourseleves, family and God.

The third part I agree with can be found on page 25 of this book. It talks about how as a Christian we are no part of this world. We do not listen to the same music as others, watch the same movies as others,etc. We are supposed to be different. John 15:19: “You [Jesus’ followers] are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.” (Thus true Christians are no part of the mass of human society that is alienated from God. They care for normal human activities, but they shun attitudes, speech, and conduct that are characteristic of the world and that conflict with Jehovah’s righteous ways.)

The fourth thing I agree with is modesty. Which is talked about on page 177 of the book. "What you wear and how you present yourself is your responsibility. But brothers and sisters should be helping one another instead of being a stumbling block. We should have a desire to reflect God. Think about how our dressing has on members of the opposite sex. " The author makes great points once again. We should make sure our skirts are not too short, our shirts are not too revealing,etc. We should have a sense of respect for ourselves and those who look at us. We should never have a man look at us for the wrong reason because they are looking at us with lust.

My last and fifth point I agree with is about facebook. The author says" However you post yourself on the internet represents your character-or lack there of it. It's a reflection of what's inside your heart. You will have to deal with the consequences of what you post on facebook. " We can get caught on facebook and take away from the more important things such as prayer, attending meetings at Kingdom Hall,etc. We need to make sure that the more important things get our attention. Also once we put something up on facebook, it will still be out there on the internet and can come back to haunt us like inappriorite pictures and such. So we should be careful about facebook and its consequences.

The one thing I did not like was the subject of hell in the book. There is no such thing as Hell. When you die, you are simply sleeping which can be found in the scripture Eccl. 9:5: “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.” Also God is a loving God and would not want to torment his people. The bible says that the penatly for sin is death. As found in the scripture Rom. 6:23: “The wages sin pays is death.”After one’s death, is he still subject to further punishment for his sins? Rom. 6:7: “He who has died has been acquitted from his sin.”

So all in all I really enjoyed this book and would reccoment it anyone.

Jimmy Buffet Rushed To Hospital

64-year-old singer Jimmy Buffet was rushed to the hospital today in Australia after falling off of the stage during a concert.

So far, people think a flashing light caused him to become unconscious and hit the ground.

The band’s lead guitarist says that Jimmy was doing a solo at the front of the stage when he was hit directly by a large amount of light, knocking him backwards.

Fortunately, he wasn’t too seriously hurt, and doctors stay he’s in stable condition.

Muslim headscarf forces teen girl to bench in hoops game

A teenage girl in Maryland was the victim of religious persecution in a youth basketball league earlier this week, when 12-year-old Maheem Haq, a Muslim, was forced to sit on the bench for the first half of a basketball game because of her headscarf.

According to WJZ TV in Baltimore, Haq refused to take off her headscarf when a Hagerstown youth basketball league ref requested she do so. Her refusal led the ref to bar her from the game's first half.

"We were very upset when we heard about it," Connie Cline, the mother of one of Haq's teammates told WJZ. "She has been able to play the entire time and there's never been a problem."

While the referee's decision has been widely condemned, the official was technically within his right, because the Mid-Maryland Girls Basketball league hadn't asked for a specific exemption to allow Haq to wear her religious wrap in games. The official in question, who has not been named, deemed that the scarf represented a safety hazard and banned Haq from the game on those grounds. It has already been announced that the referee will face no penalty for his decision to force Haq out of competition.

"The referee was within his rights. He was right to do what he did," Mid-Maryland Girls' Basketball's Daphnie Campbell told WJZ-TV. "I will accept full responsibility for it. Being new, no, I didn't know anything about it. I didn't know I had to ask for permission, I didn't know a letter had to be on file. I didn't know anything of that."

Still, the decision was a surprising one, because it was the first time any referee had made a comment about Haq's headwrap. The 12-year-old had previously played basketball while wearing a headscarf for three years without incident.

The television station reported that Haq's team actually offered to forfeit the game as a protest of the perceived discrimination against the Muslim player, but Haq's family refused to allow it. Instead, the teen's father said his daughter sitting out the half was a way to stand up for her religious beliefs and prove one can accommodate both Muslim traditions and modern American pastimes.

Since the disputed matchup, Haq has been allowed to return to game action with her headscarf thanks to a new league bylaw, which stipulates that a written request from any athlete's parents is enough to grant a uniform exemption.

Haq's parents filed that paperwork, and the 12-year-old is back competing with her teammates.

"I was upset a little bit because I really wanted to play and I enjoy playing basketball," Haq told WJZ. ...

"[Now] I feel really happy. I feel great."

While the incident may have led to some hurt feelings, Haq's coach said his player's insistence on maintaining her beliefs also helped teach a life lesson to her teammates.

"I do feel that some people were offended or emotions were hurt, and that's not what we're here for. We're here to learn sports and maybe some life skills along the way," said Coach Mark Hershner.

Kellog's Sued For False Claims On Rice Krispies

If you didn't purchase any Rice Crispies in 2009, you may have missed the claim they made on the side of their box that said that "[Rice Crispies] support your child's immunity." Frosted Mini Wheats had a similar statement on their box, claiming that they are "clinically shown to improve children's attentiveness by nearly 20%."

Both claims turned out to be completely false, and now Kellog's is paying the price.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has ordered Kellog's to pay $10.5 million to customers and charities as a punishment.

Does Britney Spears’ Song Rip Off a Bellamy Brothers Classic?

When the Bellamy Brothers heard about Britney Spears’ new single, “Hold It Against Me,” they thought something about the title sounded familiar.

“Back in 1979, I wrote a little song called ‘If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body, Would You Hold It Against Me,’” recalls David Bellamy. “That little song went No. 1 and has since become one of the defining songs of our career. If you listen to the lyrics of Britney Spears’ new single, ‘Hold It Against Me,’ you’ll find some major similarities.”

The “hook” in Britney’s song is this: “If I said I want your body now, would you hold it against me.”

David and Howard Bellamy picked up on the news when their YouTube video for “If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body, Would You Hold It Against Me” was up 270,000 views, nearly overnight. In addition, several visitors on the PerezHilton.com and EW.com discussion boards noticed the similarities, leaving comments like “Bellamy Brothers rip-off” and “the Bellamy Brothers used the same lyrical hook in 1979.”

Trainer crushed by elephant at Tennessee Zoo

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Reuters) – An 8,000-pound elephant at a Tennessee zoo backed a trainer into a wall and crushed her to death, and the zoo said on Saturday it had temporarily closed its elephant exhibit.

"It's a difficult day, but our staff is very professional and they are carrying on with their duties today," said Tina Rolen, assistant director of marketing at the Knoxville, Tennessee zoo. She said the review of Friday's tragedy is continuing.

Stephanie James, 33, was fatally injured Friday while performing routine chores involving Edie, a 26-year-old, 8,000-8,500-pound elephant who is 8 and a half feet tall at the shoulder.

"At this point in time we don't believe it to be a malicious act or an aggressive act on Edie's part, but the review is ongoing to determine what happened in the barn," Rolen said.

James, one of four full-time elephant trainers at the zoo, was pushed into the wall in a stall by the animal, said Rolen.

The trainer was taken to nearby University of Tennessee Medical Center, where she died Friday of internal injuries, Rolen said.

"Everyone at Knoxville Zoo is shocked and saddened at the loss of Stephanie," said Jim Vlna, executive director of the zoo. "Our prayers are with her parents, Ron and Kris James, and the rest of her family."

Rolen said Edie, one of three zoo elephants, will not be punished or disciplined in any way. "Our training program is based on positive reinforcement," she said. The zoo was open on Saturday but the elephant display was closed.

TSA Pays Off In Breast Exposure Suit

JANUARY 13--The woman who sued the Transportation Security Administration after her breasts were exposed during a frisking at a Texas airport will receive a “nominal” payment from the government as part of a legal settlement, The Smoking Gun has learned.

The settlement was disclosed in documents filed last week in U.S. District Court in Amarillo, where Lynsie Murley last year filed a lawsuit accusing the TSA of negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress in connection with the May 2008 incident at the Corpus Christi airport.

Murley’s lawyer, Jerry McLaughlin, declined to disclose the exact amount of money that his client is receiving, but termed the payout a “nominal settlement.” Asked if the amount hit six figures, McLaughlin laughed loudly and said the negotiated payment was “way less than that. It wasn’t a whole lot of money.” Murley, he said, “was never interested in the money,” and would not have filed a lawsuit if TSA officials had simply sent her a letter of apology.

The 24-year-old Murley alleged that after being “singled out for extended search procedures,” a TSA agent frisked her and “pulled Plaintiff’s blouse completely down, exposing Plaintiff’s breasts to everyone in the area.” Her complaint noted that, “as would be expected,” Murley was “extremely embarrassed and humiliated.”

Murley charged that TSA employees “joked and laughed about the incident for an extended period of time.” After leaving the security line to be “consoled by an acquaintance who had brought her to the airport,” Murley returned to the line, where a male TSA worker said that he had wished he was there when she first passed through. The employee, Murley recalled, added that “he would just have to watch the video.”

The court settlement was reached shortly after government lawyers deposed Murley. The agreement, McLaughlin said, “got her some justice.”
