Walk To Beautiful by Jimmy Wayne

I really enjoyed this book. This book is about a country star today who shared his struggles growing up as a kid and teenager. He had trouble with his mom and dad and other various figures in his life. He was constantly in and out of foster homes and schools. Ends up walking around the world to raise awareness and money for other foster kids who are struggling too. I had no idea as a kid how he didn't have much to eat, wore the same clothes and didn't have much in his life. I really enjoyed this book because it teaches you how to be gracious for what you have, even if it's a little bit. I should be thankful I have food on my table, a bed to sleep in at night, a wonderful husband and my wonderful dog Evie! We forget what's really important in life and how it can all be gone in a second and when its gone it hurts and makes us cry because we were ungrateful for what we have in our life. I really like his music. My favorite song, is do you believe me now. Everytime I hear it on the radio, I sign out loud because it really is a great song and is for everyone. I am proud of Jimmy and how far he has come along and made a life for himself because he really didn't have a great childhood but turned out okay in the end. Which makes me happy!

Review of the book Midnight Jesus by Jamie Blaine

This book is about a guy who has several jobs. He works at a skating rink, a psychiatric hospital and a counselor at a church. He writes about what he learned after meeting with several people who gave him a different view of religion and life. I was fascinated by all the people he talked to and helped. I like the quote on page 77 which says " He(God) he picked roughneck fisherman and tax cheats. Liars and thieves. Outlaws and while women. Jesus was willing to work with the people no one else wanted on their team. He c hose flawed, messed-up, messy people. Just like brother John. Just like me...I suppose that means Jesus isn't that concerned with resumes. You don't need a seminary degree or dazzling charm or twin rows of perfect, white teeth. You don't have to be some hotshot preacher, motivational speaker, superstar athlete, born-again celebrity, or pumped-up A extrovert. The only thing Jesus ever asked was, will you follow me?" I also like the quotes on page 196,197. " Jesus said whatever you do for the least of my brothers and sisters, you do for me. I don't think he's going to ask me where I went to church or how many Bible verses I memorized. Hes going to say, where were you when I was sick? When I was in jail? How about when I was hungry? Where you were when I lost my mind? Sometimes I think the best ministry is to just be there. With no answers or agendas, willing to admit there are some things in life you can't fix of figure out. Made things simpler if I look at that way. I don't have to be good at systems or sermons or magic phrases and prayers. I don't have to be charming or motivational or articulate. All I have to do is be willing to show up and sit with Jesus."

Review of the book Silent Cry by Dorothy Newton

I really enjoyed this book. I read it all in 2 days. It is about a woman who is married to a football star who ends up being beaten emotionally, physically and spiritually. I really enjoyed the part of the book where her mom becomes a Jehovah's witness. That is what I am and so this is awesome! The daughter had trouble with it because of the house to house preaching, We don't believe that Jesus died on a cross but a stake, We do not believe when you die, you go to hell. You are just sleeping. We also do not believe in the trinity. Meaning we believe Jesus and God are two different people and that Jesus is God's son. We also do not celebrate holidays such as birthdays or Christmas. I also like the part in the book when she talked about scriptures and how people in the bible went through tough things but they always kept their faith in God and knew that he would rescue them out of whatever they had gotten into. Such as Silas and Paul who were in prison. They were badly beaten and had their feet shackled. They sang songs to God and worshiped him even in the middle of their horrible, seemingly hopeless situation. They did get her husbands opinion of the book after he got divorced from her and he said this " Whether you hit a woman once or you hit her fifty thousand times, there is no place in our makeup as a man that allows for us to ever do that. It's unacceptable; that's the bottom line. Any man who knows God understands that as a man, hitting a woman is never, ever, acceptable."

Review of the book Wicked Women Of The Bible by Ann Spangler

I really enjoyed this book. I read it in about 2 days. I also like how real the stories were and how accurate they were. The first story was about Adam and Eve and there were more stories as well. I also enjoyed the footnotes at the bottom of the pages that helped make the story more real and easier to understand. I liked the footnote on page 27 which says " Though the biblical text never explicitly states that Sarah's period started again, some scholars point out there is no evidence that men and women ate separately in the ancient world. That was a custom that developed later. When Abraham replied that was wife was in the tent he may have been employing a polite euphemism, indicating that she was menstruating and was unable to join him. For this to have been the case, she would have needed to begin menstruating just after baking the bread because bread baking would have been forbidden to menstruating woman. "I also learned something from the footnote on page 55 which said " The term for prostitute may have also meant innkeeper. In that era innkeepers were often associated with prostitutes. " I enjoyed this book because I learned more about the bible and also could follow along because I have been reading the bible and studying it for over 7 years so I know what is real and what is not and if a scripture is missued or not. So I really enjoyed this book.

Review of the book Abolishing Abortion by Rev. Frank Pavone

I thought this book I was reading about abortion was quite long and uninteresting. I thought it would be better than this. I did enjoy some quote in this book. I liked the quote in the introduction that quoted Mother Teresa which read " I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child, a direct killing of the innocent child, murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?" I like another quote by mother Teresa which reads " Many people are very, very concerned with the children in India, with the children in Africa where quite a number die, maybe of malnutrition, of hunger and so on, but millions are dying deliberately by the will of the mother. And this is what is the greatest destroyer of peace today. Because if a mother can kill her own child-what is left for me to kill you and you kill me- there is nothing between. Another quote I like is " If I speak up too loudly about the victims of abortion, what will happen to me. Will I face persecution? Will I encounter opposition? Will I lose popularity if I get involved in a case like this?"Another quote I like is " Because the gospel covers every aspect of human activity, the church must be free to comment on political matters-particularly when human rights are on the line. It would be the gravest irresponsibility not to."

Review of the book The Plain Choice by Sherry Gore

This book is about a woman who decides to leave the world and become Amish with her children. It all started because she attended an Amish church and loved everything about it. Such as how the preacher found the best in her and helped her pray and repent. Everyone treated her kindly and she liked how the Amish community is simple and all about the bible. How they use horse and buggy instead of car, how they live with little to no electricity and wear plain clothes and a head covering. The ending was a little sad, I won't say what happens but I feel and for the family and what they are going through and it makes me sad. Before this woman became Amish she had lived a troubling life and was trying to better herself and find GOD and Jesus. Not all Amish are the same, some use cars, some use computers, etc so its all up to you and what you find comfortable in your life. I was excited to review this book because I like reading about Amish and their culture and enjoy watching Amish shows on tv as well. I find other religions fascinating even though my religion is Jehovah's witness, I still like to read up on other cultures/religions. My other family is Catholic and so we but heads sometimes but its okay because we are all family and enjoy each other and are respectful to each other because we love each other.

Review of the book The Bones Will Speak by Carrie Stuart Parks

I was excited to read this book from the very beginning. I anxiously waited to review this book, the minute it came out, I rushed to get it. This book is about a sketch artist named Gwen who has a daughter named Aynslee. Gwen ends up in trouble after she enters this case to find a serial killer who are killing women in the area. He is leaving clues that the cops are trying to figure out such as a pattern of where the victims are found, the fact that wolves are eating them after the victims are dead and how they are always near lilac bushes leaving a smell of lilac around the bodies. And then the serial killer turns to Aynslee and her daughter. Its not who you think it is. And its all because of how the person was mad at Gwen for her helping in a case a few years back. I also liked the discussion questions at the end of the book as well to make you think more about the plot/story. The question askes revenge is the opposite of forgiveness. Who else is seeking revenge. And the answer is the killer is seeking revenge for something that happened years ago. Another question is about Aynslee and asks Aynslee is self-centered at the start of the story. Does she change? What makes her change? The answer is yes she changes because she gets involved in the case and ends up helping other people making her not self-centered.

Review of the book The Last Con by Zachary Bartels

This book was about a man named Fletcher and his wife Meg who get caught up in a con man job. He ends up being helped by his two older friends whom he hadn't see in a while.I originally requested this book because I like mystery books. I haven't heard of this author before but I enjoy reading his book. I also liked the religious context of it as well, I find stuff about the scriptures enjoyable. I also enjoyed the fast pace of the book, I read through 50 chapters pretty quick, I didn't want to put the book down. I enjoyed this book so much I told my dad all about it and was excited to talk about it. I also enjoyed seeing God's name Jehovah in the book, because not many people know God's name, its taken out of many bibles. Many people feel that using God's name is shameful or wrong but God wants us to use his name and proudly proclaim about him. I first learned about God's name when I began to truly study the bible and learned what is real about God and what is not. I also liked in the book when they began to help others who were in need, God talks about in the bible that if we are good neighbors then we show love and God is love. I have been down on my luck before and my congregation was so great to help me by making meals and making sure me and my husband were ok after his surgery.

Review of the book The Good, The Bad, And The Grace Of God by Jeb and Jessica Robertson

This book was okay. Not as great as other books I had read. I mainly wanted to read it because it was from the show Duck Dynasty. I did like the quote on page 79 which reads " If you notice someone who seems to be in that kind of trouble, make yourself available for support, guidance and prayer. Look beyond the smiles and the everything's ok facade and really see the hurting, scared heart of a girl who needs your help to remove herself from a bad situation." I also liked the quote on page 96 which reads "To be with our brothers, and sisters, meet with them, sing, pray, check on each other all that good stuff." All in all a great book. What I admire about duck dynasty is there real understanding of the bible and the scriptures, even if offends others. Phil was in the news for talking about homosexuality as a sin and it offended those who support that community but God clearly states what is real and what is not. And homosexuality is not ok with God. God made Adam and Eve perfect and they messed up so their sin became our sin and we are imperfect. Just like people get onto Jehovah's witnesses because we do not support the troops or war and take part in the world like many other people. We always put God first because he loves us and wants whats best for us. I also like how the family prays at the end of the show.

Review of 3 short novels by Susan May Warren

The first book I read was called measure of a man. It involves 2 characters Peter and Cali who is a missionary. Peter left the life of religion to become a lawyer and Cali always loved him. They ended up meeting because he was stuck in an elevator in a hotel and she talked to him until he got free. They ended up getting married and Peter became a missionary.

The second book is called Proof Of Love. The book started off with a woman named Justine who got into a car accident because someone cut her brakes in her car and was trying to kill her. She got saved by someone named Patrick. He ends up working at the coffee shop where Justine visits. Later Justine gets a flat tire and it turns out it was slashed. Patrick went to visit Justine and saw a prowler but turned out it was Justine so they started laughing and kissing. When she went to the sheriff she thought she had found her killer but turned out it was Patrick checking up on her. Patrick ended up getting arrested. Then the real stalker/killer showed up. He was tall and thin and masked and bound her hands and dragged her to his truck. It ended up being a man named Toad-he had the job Justine had before and was mad. Everyone thought Toad had been dead. Patrick got out of jail and found Justine. He freed her, Both told each other they loved each other.

The third book is called The House That Love Built. Ellen and Mitchell were business partners who attended church together. A church that was trying to get Ellen to join the youth staff and become a missionary. She decided to help the youth group paint someone's house. She ended up painting Paul's house and they became friends. She agreed to decorate his house for free. Then Ellen found out Mitchell was trying to steal her company out from under her. She decided it wasn't worth the effort of saving the business so she became a missionary and her and Paul fell in love. Then Paul decided to be a traveling missionary because his replacement had an emergency. So Ellen decided to go with him and they both fell in love and got engaged.

Review of the book The Case Of The Sin City Sister by Lynne Hinton

I really enjoyed this book. I read it in about 2 days. It is about a nun named Eve who is on the search for her sister who has disappeared and nobody has heard from her sister in over a month and are concerned. Eve goes to Las Vegas and finds out her sister is in a lot of trouble and has to save her. All in all a great mystery book. I was interested in reading this to become more involved with the process of being a nun since it interests me. I find it interesting that nuns cannot get married and must remain celibate. We are taught in the bible and scriptures that sex is ok between a man and woman and marriage and that is how a man honors a woman. That's how married people show their affection to each other. I also do not understand how they are comfortable wearing that get-up. Woman are allowed to wear dresses and nice shoes and skirts as long as it is appropriate and not getting the attention of men. Its the same thing as a priest not having sex and then hearing about the sex crimes in the news. It's because they don't understand what God really wants, they try to twist the scriptures to their benefit because they believe they are the right religion. God will say at the end of the days when people are called up to him, he will deny some even though they say they preached in his name but he will say get away, I do not know you. That is because some religion misled others into following them.

Review of the book Ghost Boy by Martin Pistorius

This book was really good. I read it in 3 days. This is about a boy who spends his entire life in a wheelchair and can't speak or walk or talk without help from his family and a computer that speaks for him. He ends up using his computer to help inspire others and also ends up living on his own and finds a girl he loves and marries her and lives happily ever after. I enjoy reading the watchtower and awake published by Jehovah's witness because they have stories like this all the time. They had this story of a person who got paralyzed in a car crash and had to bed-ridden and use a computer to talk. Yet he still managed to talk about God and didn't feel like he was worthless and unusable. All because of the bible he didn't feel like God had him suffer or caused his suffering because he knows Satan is the ruler of this world and that people feel like they can walk in their own step but they can't and then God has to stand in. Satan also runs the gov't so that is why the world is so terrible and chaos. That's why as Jehovah's witnesses do not get involved in the world, we do pay our taxes and stuff but do not support the troop or wars or stuff like that. We also do not celebrate holidays such as Christmas or Easter, etc. That is because we know the real origin of those holidays and it is not related to Christianity.

Review of t he book Wrestling For My Life by Shawn Michael

I really enjoyed this book. It was about the famous wrestler Shawn Michael's and about his life after he retired from wrestling and loving his kids and family and God.

I like the quote on page 66 which reads " I can compare it to my marriage. I still love Rebecca, but our relationship is not what it was like at the beginning. We have gone through tough times, working through them together. In the process of life's battles, we've grown closer to each other because we have learned more about each other. We've been wounded, and although those wounds have healed, they have left scars. "

I also like the quote on page 107 which reads " Some may not agree with how I do things, but as long as I pray and spend time reading God's word and sense that I am doing what he wants me to do when he wants me do it, then I figure that I am pleasing God, and this is the best that I can do."

I also like the quote on page 121 which reads " As Christian men, we can't be swayed by society's changing perspectives. If we do, we will have to change our beliefs to keep up with what's currently perceived as correct. But even that will change, too, with time. The bible hasn't changed and will not change. God's word is for all time, and I'm much more interested in God, not society, thinking I am cool. Thank you to booksneeze for letting me read this book about a wrestler I looked up to as a role model. "

Review of the book The Undertaker's Wife by Dee Oliver

This book was about a girl named Dee who fell in love with a guy named Johnnie who was a person who worked at a funeral home. He ends up dying because of a stroke and she has to struggle without him. She ends up going back to college and getting her degree and then she gets a job at another funeral home. I would have trouble working at a funeral home because of death. When I lost my grandfather I was in tears and couldn't stop crying. At the time I believed that God sends people to heaven but now I know the truth. I know when you are dead, you are just sleeping, not aware of anything. The world portrays God as an evil person who takes people to heaven to be an angel but that is not true. God already has angels and does not need to take us to heaven. Also if people believe that God sends people to Heaven, then how would it feel to be in heaven looking down on us and being sad because we are grieving. That is not comforting at all. It is more comforting to know that we are asleep in death. So we don't worry about someone dying. To be honest the reason I got this was at first I believed it was about the wrestler the undertaker but it wasn't. I am a big wrestler fan and enjoy watching it on tv and will be going to my first live match next month. Super excited.

Review of the book Twisted Innocence by Terri Blackstock

I really enjoyed this book. It was a murder mystery! It was about this woman named Holly who had a daughter named Lilly and she found out her ex boyfriend is wanted for murder and drug charges but she knows he is innocent and helps him get freed in the end and they end up getting back together and ends up being a happy family!I have liked other books from this author and will continue to get books from her. I like murder mysteries because I can never figure out who the bad guy is, I also enjoy watching murder mysteries on tv. My favorite show is Rizzoli and Isles and I cannot figure out who the bad guy always is and I enjoy the twists the tv show does. The suspect is usually no one believes could have done it. I find it fascinating and also find talking about murder fascinating too. I enjoy the tv show bones because you can find out so much about someone just by looking at their bones and investigating them. I am hoping to learn more about this and enrich my life. I also enjoy books with happy endings because I get involved in the characters and get myself into the book like it is my life and such. Books are a great part of my life because it gets me out of my mind and life into another demention. I ended up telling my friend all about this book because I enjoyed it so much.

Review of the book Breaker's Reef by Terri Blackstock

I really enjoyed this book. It was a murder mystery. It was about these 2 girls Jamie and Amelia who wanted to find Amelia's mom. In the process of finding her mom, they get kidnapped and Jamie ends up dying from a gunshot wound. Amelia gets put into this dungeon type place and people go looking for her. Her sister Sadie goes looking for her and ends up being kidnapped by the same guy as well. Then Amelia and Sadie's mom Sheila ends up looking for them and finds them but ends up in the dungeon as well until police can rescue them all. Another great murder mystery book. I like books like these because I can get in the heads of the characters and get emensed in the book. This book had a lot of twists and turns which kept me going in the book and I didn't want to put it down. When I look back on writing a longer review for this I don't really remember all of the story but I truly enjoy reading books and getting to new characters. I try to read the book in a few days so I can get another one from this amazing book site booksneeze.com. I enjoy books from them because they are Christian and have scriptures quoted in them which I enjoy because I enjoy reading the bible and getting to know more things. A few more words and the review can be done. I hope to read more murder mysteries in the future.

Review of the book Their Name Is Today by Johann Christoph Arnold

This book was about child education and parent's role in that decision. I found the book really slow and boring and hard to get through. It took me longer than usual to read a book. I liked one quote in the book, the first on page 61 which reads " Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also". I like that because your heart will tell you what is important to you and I love that. All in all I will not recommend this book to anyone.

Review of the book The Beekeeper's Son by Kelly Irvin

I really enjoyed this book. It is about a girl named Deborah who falls in love with a man named Phineas who for a living takes cares of bees and sells honey. Phineas didn't believe anyone could fall in love with him since he has scars on his face from an accident as a kid but Deborah sees past it and sees him for who he really is, a person she could spend the rest of his life with. This book is good because it shows what true love is, it is about looks but also what the person looks like in their hearts because that is more important. You want someone who loves you for you and will take care of you and make you feel special and will treat you well. A person may be on thing on the outside and you may judge them but you have to get to know the person for who they truly are because that is hard to find what a person really is like. We have a hard time showing people who we truly are because we are worried about being judged but in the end you will find someone who will like you for you and want to be your friend and around you and all will be good. I have best friends who stick with me for better or worse and I love them for that because I can be myself around them and they don't care about that.
