Carrie Underwood weighs in on artists’ lip-synching

In the wake of questions over Beyonce’s rendition of the national anthem at Monday’s presidential inauguration, one artist who knows the pressure of the spotlight spoke out Tuesday in Nashville.

“Because if I’m up there singing one of my songs, and I mess up the words, who cares? I’ll laugh it off, and they’ll laugh it off, and it’s funny,” Underwood said. “But when you have something so important, for some big, important event – and all eyes are on you – that’s a lot of pressure.”

Underwood, who is nominated for two Grammy Awards for her chart-topping hit, Blown Away, stopped by the Nashville Grammy chapter’s party at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel.

While the U.S. Marine Band later backed off its initial comments that Beyonce had performed with a pre-recorded version of the anthem, and the singer herself has not yet commented, Underwood said she doesn’t second-guess others’ performances.

“I don’t sit around and say, ‘Are they or aren’t they? I’m not sure.’ But I can speak for myself, I don’t – if I were sick, I would sing sick. That’s not my cup of tea,” Underwood said.

Underwood added that she hasn’t performed with a voice track.

“I’ve never tried it, so I don’t know what it’s like. So, for me, I would really respect somebody a lot more if they got up – even if they were sick or whatever – and gave it their all,” she said.

A representative for Hendersonville, TN, resident Kelly Clarkson said she sang live to perform My Country, ‘Tis of Thee at the inauguration Monday.

Gossip: Jessica & Eric Expecting A Boy

Jessica Simpson and her hunky fiance Eric Johnson better start painting their nursery blue because according to a new report, they have a baby boy on the way! Unfortunately, they’re going to have to get extra creative with the baby’s name because they already handed their favorite boy name over to their daughter, Maxwell Drew Johnson.

“It’s Jessica’s dream come true, she prayed she was having a boy. She found out this week after a check-up at the doctor, who asked her if she wanted to know the sex of the baby. Jessica immediately said yes and when the doctor told her it was a boy she screamed with joy. She was so happy that Maxwell is getting a little brother because that’s something she always wanted when she was growing up,” an insider tells Radar Online.

This is so great for Jess! Now she’ll have one boy and one girl. But we wonder what they’ll name the new baby!

“Jessica and Eric are so excited and have started going through names, but they haven’t settled on one just yet. It’s just a pity their favorite boys name went to their daughter first,” the source added.

There may be another baby on the way for Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans

Evans is expecting her second child and the first with her husband, Courtland Rogers, according to Star magazine. It would appear Rogers and Evans, who were reportedly considering divorce last week, have reconciled.

Both Rogers and Evans have children from previous relationships, though neither has custody of their kids. Evans' son Jace, 3, lives with her mother, while Rogers' daughter, JaJa, lives with his ex-girlfriend.

Hulk Hogan Sues Back Surgery Center For $50 Million

Hulk Hogan may be one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, but that doesn't mean he can't make a bad decision now and again.

One bad decision was to let the doctors at the Laser Spine Institute of Florida talk him into undergoing multiple procedures in 2009.

The procedures turned out to be completely useless and he's claiming it damaged his career.
According to Hulk's legal team, he was supposed to have a HUGE match between him and John Cena!

That would've been the match of the century! It also would've been the cap to his career!

But because of the bad surgeries, he had to back out of the contract and several subsequent appearances.
He's claiming all of that lost him a total of $50,000,000!

Kim Kardashian Discusses Fertility Issues, Calls Pregnancy a "Blessing"

Kim Kardashian's pregnancy may have come as a surprise, but it was a welcome one. Kanye West's girlfriend spoke candidly about her happy baby news during an appearance on the TODAY show Jan. 15.

"Khloe has been very open about her fertility issues, and I think I was always really kind of quiet about mine," Kim, 32, said of her sister, 28, who has no biological children yet with husband Lamar Odom. "I have similar issues, and so it was a pleasant surprise when so many doctors were telling me one thing and then the opposite happens." (Kim visited fertility specialists in recent episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.)

Kim and West, 35, will welcome their first child in July. Though she's still legally wed to NBA player Kris Humphries (she filed for divorce after 72 days of marriage in October 2011), the E! reality star is ready to start the next chapter of her life.

"I was always such a planner," Kim explained. "You think your life is going to be a certain way, and the best surprises just happen when you don't plan."

Britney Spears & Jason Trawick SPLITSVILLE

Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have broken up ... TMZ has learned.

The couple got engaged back in 2011. Trawick started out as Britney's agent, the duo started dating and he eventually became her co-conservator along with her dad, Jamie Spears.

Multiple sources connected to the couple tell TMZ ... Jason didn't want to make the announcement until he was taken off the conservatorship.  Interestingly, lawyers for the conservatorship are in court right now, along with Britney's dad, Jamie Spears, so it's possible Jason will be removed today.

Sources say it was a "friendly breakup" and Britney and Jason will remain friends.  As for why they split, we're told they just "grew apart."

The timing's pretty interesting considering Brit recently changed agencies, heading to CAA ... an indication Trawick was no longer involved in managing her career.

Britney told People.com ...  "Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends."

Trawick also issued a statement saying, "As this chapter ends for us a new one begins. I love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever."

Rumor: Britney Spears Is Leaving X Factor After One Season

Britney Spears will always have the x factor -- but the X Factor no longer has Britney Spears. After months of speculation and mixed reviews for her performance as a judge on the second season of the FOX reality competition, the 31-year-old singer is leaving the series, two sources confirm to Us Weekly. (A rep for FOX had no comment.) On her 2013 agenda? Recording her eighth studio album with the likes of will.iam and other superstar producers, plus an accompanying tour.

But the "I Wanna Go" singer may have simply beaten X Factor producers to the punch. Us Weekly was first to report late last month that producers were planning to show Spears the door. "Britney will get the boot," an insider told Us of Spears, who joined the show in May, along with fellow newcomer Demi Lovato. "Producers wanted her for the long haul, but it isn't working."

Spears signed a whopping $15 million contract for one season -- and show runners were disappointed with the energy she brought to the show. "They paid all that for her to say 'amazing,' and offer half-claps," a second insider said. Co-creator Simon Cowell, a third source said "wanted crazy Britney, but he got boring Britney."

The popster joins the likes of Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and Cheryl Cole -- who all were fired after season one; judge L.A. Reid also recently announced his decision to leave earlier this month.

At a TCA panel in Pasadena, Calif. on Tuesday Jan. 8, FOX executive was diplomatic about Spears' run on the show.

Kevin Reilly addressed X Factor and how Britney Spears performed and if she will come back: "I thought it went very, very well... I think Britney did a really good job ... She tucked in really nicely on that bench. For next year, I don't know."

Review of the book Stumbling on Open Ground by Ken Mansfield

This book is about a husband who had beaten cancer twice and how his wife helped him beat it and how he also relied on GOD and his faith to help him as well.

I like the quote on page 36 which says " Jesus loved Peter at both edges: saint and a sinner, religious and sacrilegious, rock and brimstone edges.... I change and vacillate, but Jesus is always the same. He loves me, hangs in there with me, even hung on the stake for me(author said cross, I put stake). I also like the quote on page 110 which says " Sometimes its tough being a christian when hardships strike. We're all human and that means we're susceptible to pain, doubt, exhaustion, anger, frustration, fear, and the whole gamut of human emotions. When you know and trust GOD, this can cause the journey to become an even bumpier road." I like this because while GOD does bless us, we do all struggle and its ok to mad, or frustrated or to be honest with our emotions, that we are real people who all deal with emotions. I can relate to the characters because my grandpa and aunt both died from cancer. My grandpa had pancratic cancer and my aunt had breast cancer and I lost both in the same year and it was doing high school so it was traumatic for me. I was always crying. My dad was the best, he was always there for me even though he lost his dad and sister.
