Review of the book Still In The Game by Devon Still

This book is about a football player whose daughter gets cancer and turns to God for help.

I like the quote on page vii which says " Life has a way of bringing you to your knees. At some point or another, no matter how strong you are, no matter how in control you are, you will drop to the ground and pray. And pray hard." The quote I like on page 156 says " I learned in that church if you want to feel God's presence, just ask for it. I started bawling and calling out loud why God? Why? Are you here with me God? Do you hear me? Let me know you are here!"

On page 187 it says " in God, whose words I praise- in God I trust and am not afraid(psalm 56:4)" . On page 192 it says " We know that all things work together for good for those who love God( Romans 8: 28)" On page 197 says " God has a plan. We can't always see the plan, but it's there. Whatever you're going through is preparing you for something else. Something bigger. Something you probably can't even imagine. You just have to pay attention. Learn the lesson. Stay in the game. Don't give up. Keep going. And someday, someday, if you stick it out, all that stuff that didn't make sense is gonna make some sense. It's gonna pay off. It's gonna add up to something. I knew, I would continue to know from that moment forward, that whatever new struggles might come my way, whatever challenge's or obstacles might appear in my life, they were just preparing me for a future that God has in store for me. Knowing that everything we do in life is about learning, growing, gaining strength, preparing for a path we can't see but that God is laying out for us, just knowing that somehow makes the task of facing life's struggles that much easier. Faith in God doesn't make the struggles go away. The obstacles in life don't magically disappear because you pray. But the fear of those struggles? The terror of believing that each new obstacle is somehow gonna be the end of you. That goes away. That makes you stronger. And that is powerful."

On page 226 it says" when something is wrong, it's never shameful to stop and ask for help. You cannot heal what you're not willing to face."on page 233 it says " I'm not sure what life will hold for us all next, but I know there will be more challenges ahead. That's life. I still believe the struggle makes me stronger, and somehow it's all part of God's Bigger plan."
